Overview of Trinh Nu Cave
Located within the Bo Hon island range, Trinh Nu Cave, also known as Virgin Cave, is a symbol of true love and a romantic destination for couples. This enchanting cave is not only steeped in legend but also holds significant archaeological importance, with discoveries tracing back to prehistoric inhabitants of Halong culture, approximately 4,000 years ago. In 2000, remnants such as ash, bone fragments, and stone tools were unearthed, providing insights into ancient life in the area.
In 2010, ancient ceramic fragments were found near Trinh Nu Cave, including porcelain, crockery, and decorative jars linked to the Tran dynasty of the 13th and 14th centuries, as well as glazed pottery from the later Le dynasty (16th-18th centuries). These findings suggest that the Virgin Cave was part of the historic Van Don trading system.
Currently, Bhaya Cruises is the only operator authorized to visit Trinh Nu Cave, thanks to permission from the Halong City government. They have enhanced accessibility to the cave with a small gangway and stairs, alongside regular beach maintenance. Visitors to Trinh Nu Cave can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Halong Bay, wander through mystical caves adorned with stalagmites and stalactites, and take a refreshing swim in the jade-green waters. For relaxation, don’t miss the chance to sunbathe on the pristine private beach, experiencing the unique atmosphere of Vietnam.
